There’s a version of “AI and flowers” that we were never interested in making — the kind where everything looks a little too smooth, a little too perfect, and instantly reads as generated rather than grown. That’s not what we’re building. For our upcoming shoot, AI isn’t the shortcut. It’s the imagination stage before the real work even begins.
Why We’re Doing This at All
Flowers are already one of the most imaginative materials to work with — every stem is a small negotiation between what nature gives you and what you can shape from it. AI gave us a way to push that imagination further before a single flower was even cut: to sketch impossible colour combinations, surreal scale, and dreamlike settings that would be nearly impossible — or at least wildly expensive — to test in real life first.
But a sketch is not a shoot. Every concept we generate still has to survive contact with real petals, real light, and real hands arranging them. If it can’t be built for real, it doesn’t make it into the final work.
Fantasy as the Starting Point, Reality as the Craft
The brief for this shoot was simple to say and hard to execute: fantasy meets reality. We wanted arrangements that feel like they’ve stepped out of a dream — impossible colour gradients, scale that plays with perspective, settings that feel a little otherworldly — but built entirely from genuine, living flowers, arranged the same way we always arrange them: by hand, with intention, stem by stem.
AI helped us imagine the impossible version first. Then our florists had to figure out how to actually build it — which blooms could hold that colour story, which structures could support that scale, which real materials could stand in for something that started as a purely imagined shape.

What “Not Fake” Actually Means to Us
The easiest way to make an AI-and-flowers shoot look cheap is to let the AI do the final image. We didn’t want a flower that only exists on a screen — we wanted a flower you could
actually walk up to, smell, and touch, that just so happened to look like it came from somewhere a little more magical than a flower market.
That’s the whole point of this project: AI as a tool for dreaming bigger, not a substitute for the craft that makes flowers worth working with in the first place. The fantasy is the concept. The reality is still entirely ours.
What to Expect
When the shoot goes live, you’ll see arrangements that feel like they shouldn’t be real — and yet every single one is. That tension, between what looks imagined and what’s actually sitting in front of you, is exactly the feeling we were chasing.
